June 2026

This month was another very eventful month including a High Adventure, more flag posting, and an Eagle Court of Honor.

On May 31st we had our

, where we all meet up and celebrate what our scouts have accomplished, including earning Merit Badges, ranking up, and more.

On June 6th some of our scouts left for Swamp Base High Adventure. It was a very long drive down there including a 2-day trip down and back each way. We camped a little outside of Memphis Tennessee the first night, and on the last night in Sikeston, Missouri. When we arrived in Lafeyette, Louisiana, we met with our trek guides and did our gear check, we then stayed in a hotel and had po boys for dinner. On Monday morning we woke up at around 5:30 AM and had breakfast at the hotel, we then got on a bus and headed for the Atchafalaya River and had our canoes deployed around 7:30 AM. We then paddled for about 20 miles to The Turtles where it was a floating dock. On Tuesday morning we headed to McGees around 7 AM. We had a 90-minute boat tour where we saw about 12 American Alligators. It was very cool. We then had to carry our canoes about 900 feet up a hill and across a road to get to another river. We then paddled about 10 miles to Rougarou Island. The guides told us about the Rougarou legend and we slept in hammocks. It was a decent night, but the ground was very wet from all the rain, and there were lots of mosquitoes. We slept in hammocks that night. in the morning we got in our canoes again and we paddled about 14 miles to Camp Atchafalaya. (Or Camp A as they call it). We also got to see Forgotten Cove, an area with old Cyprus trees. At Camp A it felt like heaven, when we got there, we took all our gear except for our canoes to the main area. The camp staff were super friendly and gave us popsicles when we got there! Later that night we had gumbo with rice. On Thursday we got to see some cool programs. We got to hold baby alligators along with seeing a hydro table to show how water can affect land. We all played card games and learned a few line dances. Friday, we woke up at 2 AM and got all our gear back in our canoes. We were on the water at about 3 AM. We then paddled 6 miles in 2 hours to Eagle Point. We saw the sunrise and it was beautiful. After that we paddled another 6 miles to The Swamp Stomp, which is supposed to be muddy, but it was actually wet. Our canoes floated through the whole thing. What was supposed to be about an hour took 15 minutes! We then had about an hour swim break and ended our trek at the beach after a 17 mile paddling day. We headed back to the hotel and took much needed showers. The trip was amazing and I would do it again. We started the drive back home Saturday morning and got home on June 14th. That same day was Flag Day where we posted the flags for everybody who subscribed. It was another smooth day for flags.

On June 20th we had our Eagle Court of Honor for Riley and Jake. They reached Eagle in April and had their ceremony on the 20th. The ceremony was very good with a full crowd of people showing up. We had food and drinks as well. This whole month was a very eventful month for the troop.
