This month, Troop 104 made the most of the summer weather by spending nearly every Sunday outside. Our troop meetings were held at some of our favorite local spots — North Aurora Island Park, Les Arends, and Dick Young Forest Preserve. With the sunshine on our side, scouts practiced essential skills like first aid and animal identification, all while enjoying the great outdoors well into the evening.
Biking Campout at Tomochichi Knolls
Our big adventure for the month was a biking campout at Tomochichi Knolls in Gilberts, IL. The scouts took on a 16-mile bike ride along the river on a sweltering 90+ degree day. Despite the heat, everyone powered through and earned a much-deserved break with lunch at a pizza place in Crystal Lake.
When we returned to camp, the weather had its own adventure planned — a powerful storm swept through, the same one that caused power outages back in Aurora. Some tents got soaked, but with teamwork and leadership, the scouts quickly got their sleeping gear dried out. Just as everything was settled, another storm rolled in overnight! Thankfully, by Sunday morning, the skies cleared, making for a smooth (and dry!) pack-up.

Looking Ahead
This month, Troop 104 is gearing up for a fishing campout. We can’t wait to share the next round of outdoor experiences — stay tuned!
