Troop 104 had a fantastic October filled with community service, skill-building, and outdoor fun! Here’s a look at some of the memorable activities our Scouts took part in.
Service Project: Cleaning Up the Fox River Bike Path
Our Scouts kicked off October with a service project dedicated to keeping our community clean. A group of Scouts volunteered to pick up trash along the Fox River bike path, showing once again their commitment to community service and environmental care. It’s always inspiring to see our Scouts giving back!
Annual Recruitment Campout: Wilderness Olympics
One of the highlights of the year is our annual recruitment campout, and this October was no exception. We hosted our exciting Wilderness Olympics on the property of Fox Valley Vet Clinic. It’s a wonderful space, and we’re fortunate to have access to such a beautiful location so close to home.
Our Scouts participated in various skill-building events, including:
Geo-caching: Testing navigation and treasure-hunting skills.
Axe Yard: Learning the proper use of axes and other tools safely.
Axe Throwing: A fun and skillful activity that teaches precision and focus.
Fire Building: Building and managing a fire, an essential survival skill.
Monkey Bridge: Building and crossing a rope bridge, which strengthens teamwork and trust.
This year, a few Cub Scouts joined us, eager to learn and participate alongside our Scouts. It was a big turnout for the troop, with everyone showcasing their cooking skills by preparing a meal using four different cooking methods. The Scouts demonstrated excellent teamwork and culinary creativity, impressing all attendees.
Wrapping Up October with Fun and Learning
As always, Troop 104 balanced learning and enjoyment throughout the month’s activities. Each event gave our Scouts a chance to develop new skills, bond with friends, and grow as individuals. We're proud of their hard work and dedication, both in serving the community and advancing their outdoor skills.

Here’s to many more adventures and meaningful projects as we continue our Scouting journey!
