"Well, Another Crazy, Yet Productive Summer Camp Adventure!"

This year's summer camp was one for the books! From July 14th through the week, we found ourselves at the beautiful Ed Bryant Scout Reservation in Mauston, Wisconsin, nestled on the southeast corner of Castle Rock Lake. For those familiar with Wisconsin, you know this place is a gem, but this year, it threw us a few curveballs.

The first couple of days were nothing short of a challenge—temperatures soared into the low 90s with humidity that felt like a wet blanket. As if that wasn't enough, we endured the most intense 48-hour mosquito invasion I’ve ever witnessed. It was literally a non-stop cycle of spray, sweat, and repeat! Despite the tough conditions, our Scouts got off to an impressive start, focusing on their merit badges and tackling the situation head-on with grit and good spirits.

By Monday evening, camp management decided to intervene, spraying the campsites and common areas. By Tuesday, things had improved significantly, though you could still spot Scouts returning to camp with a cloud of mosquitoes trailing behind them! The resilience of these kids was something to behold. Come Wednesday, the weather turned in our favor, dropping into the low 70s with a refreshing breeze that finally restored a sense of normalcy.

But through it all, our Scouts rocked it! Over 80 merit badges were completed, and our older Scouts got to rev up their week with an exciting day riding ATVs. It wasn't just the activities that stood out; one of our Scouts, Wyatt Hall, was honored by the Swim Boating Department as their "Scout of the Week" for his helpfulness and outstanding effort—a well-deserved recognition for Wyatt and a proud moment for our Troop!

We were so impressed with the camp, challenges and all, that we've already decided to return to Ed Bryant Scout Reservation for next year’s summer camp.

That’s all for now—until the next adventure!
